I'm renovating the kitchen. Installed new windows. But now going to paint the ceiling, lay flooring, new walls. Yes, a total renovation.

Today there is an ugly woven wallpaper on a chipboard (I think?) that is attached to regular wooden planks. So I probably don't even need to find the studs to set new drywall. There's wood all the way behind?

Can you put new drywall directly on that wall, or should you tear everything down and start fresh?

I will also lay raw plywood around the windows and drywall there to have tiles as window sills.
