Hello!
I am going to make a new hole in the chimney to connect a kitchen fan. The duct continues down to the basement. Can I just connect directly to the duct on the ground floor, or do I need to build a barrier in the duct so that the smoke doesn't go down to the basement? If a barrier is required, is a cleaning hatch needed before the barrier, or is the connection for the kitchen fan sufficient?
Thanks in advance!
Jonas

Hello
Fill the channel with e.g. lecakulor and cast a bottom. Cleaning hatch? Depends on the length and the number of bends between the chimney and the fan.

Thanks for the answer. So no cleaning hatch is needed in the actual chimney. It's enough for the chimney sweep to access from the connection side.
