Hello,

I've been around Bauhaus, Byggmax, Beijer, K-rauta, and Hornbach trying to figure out what kind of panel is in this picture. We are going to put up a new wooden panel in the ceiling of our house, and the craftsmen want to know exactly which panel it should be.

My guess is that it is white-waxed spruce, about 70cm wide with straight edges.

Is there anyone here with a good eye for this who can provide some insights into what kind of panel we should have?

Best regards,
Fredrik

Moelven probably has something nicer if you're after that.

68:- per linear meter? That ends up being over 1,000 kronor per square meter for that thin, flimsy panel!

The narrowest they seem to have is 95mm, which is a bit on the wide side.

If you're after a 70mm wide panel, search for karosseripanel.
Beijer has it, though unfinished..

It's dreadfully thin, I don't think it will have quite the same profile as in the picture above.

Saw that too, I think the closest you'll get is the sauna panel you linked to.

Expensive, yes, so damn expensive, but it was Beijer after all ;)

Yes, leaning towards that as well. It would be interesting to hear from someone who has used sauna panel for the ceiling, as it is quite a large and central area in the house that needs to be covered. The price feels okay, after all, it's quite a small part of the total renovation cost and it's important that it turns out well.

An alternative, I suppose, is to find someone who custom-makes panels, but I have no experience with that.

Untreated is ok, I plan to white wax it.

If anyone stumbles upon this thread in the future, it ended up with me contacting a couple of sawmills and panel specialists. Right now it looks like we will order a 15x70 spårpanel in spruce.

We're looking for the same type of ceiling, may I ask which sawmill you chose? And were you satisfied?

Hello, I contacted about 10 sawmills and finally ordered from Panel & List here in Stockholm. They have a small store, seemed knowledgeable about details, and had a relatively short delivery time (2 weeks). Listspecialisten also seemed very skilled and had slightly lower prices, but they had a 5-6 week delivery time which would delay our entire renovation by a few weeks.

We expect to receive the panels this week, so I don't know how the outcome is yet.

Thank you so much for the response. Please share a picture when it's up :)

Now the ceiling panel is in place and fully treated. I am very pleased with Panel & List who provided good service and delivered everything on time with good quality. We first treated the panel with stain and then a layer of Osmo Wax to get a slightly grayer tone. It is still a bit too glossy but seems to dull over time.
