Hi!
I was wondering if anyone has a small list of names for different types of boards. Not everything is a board or plank. There are also reglar, etc.
It would be great if someone could provide this simply with measurements so I don't become the laughingstock of the lumberyard when I go there.
Best regards,
Fredrik

You might as well talk dimensions instead? A two-by-four, a bundle of 34x70, and some 29x95.
Since, for example, a regel can have a number of dimensions, you rarely get away with just calling it a regel. You might need to Google for some compilation if you want that – there is a plethora of different sticks; Reglar, boards, planks, battens, form, quarter round, dowels, smyglist, joint strip, moldings, baseboards, corner strips, decorative moldings, chair rails, panels, raw tongue and groove, decking, planed, unplaned, rough-sawn, etc...

Why complicate things with inches?
7/8"? Who cares what the measurement is in inches? That unit of measurement is no longer used in Sweden.
Moreover, råspont doesn't exist in 18mm but in 17mm or 22mm.
Go to the lumber yard and say you need wood with a certain dimension and use millimeters.
Good to know about:
Formvirke, planed but may have wanes and ugly knots, used as formwork.
Råplan, a notch better. Used as studs. Sometimes mixed up with formvirke.
Klyvsågat, for outdoor use that will be painted. For example, facade wood and barge boards.
Planhyvlat, for higher quality demands on the wood. Usually sorted into class 3 or even better class 1.
Then there's unplaned, of course.
