I'm starting to go a bit crazy with this now. I've started reinstalling new baseboards in our apartment after painting and such is completed.

Against the walls we built ourselves, there were no issues, using 40x1.7 mm white-painted brads, a wall fixed in a few minutes.

Against the old metal studs, it gets worse. The 40x1.7 brads hold well initially, but the last centimeter hits the stud without going through, then everything springs back out again.

25x1.4 goes in as they should, but doesn't hold well enough in the drywall.

The alternatives I found in stores are 30x1.4, which I guess won't hold well enough, and 35x1.7, which is too long.

The ones I've placed so far are set with 40x1.7 that I've clipped the last centimeter off of; it doesn't feel like a sustainable method to continue with.

Is there anywhere to find something that works? 29x1.7 would be ideal, 30mm should also work.

I'd rather not have to screw the stuff in; after all, the old skirting boards were nailed, but I no longer have the measurements for those nails.

Difficult to nail this by hand. Recommend a nail gun instead. As a last resort, screw it and cover the head with a white latex sealant. My tip.

do you nail straight on? tried angling the nail?

Glue instead, gypsum and metal studs are not much to nail into.

well, it works better when the nail is angled into the plaster.
of course, gluing is good too

Mjo, I've seen nail guns mentioned in several places. Feels a bit unnecessary though, as I drive in around 10 nails/year on average.
What exactly goes better with a nail gun? Does the nail go through the board maybe?

I nail straight. In which direction should you tilt if that's the case?
