Hello

I have just added extra insulation and moved the windows out so they are flush with the facade.

Do you nail the trim directly to the frame?

  • A newly installed window flush with exterior wall after additional insulation, with reflections of a person and garden visible in the glass.
You don't need salningar then?

Just saw that it looks like the frame is flush against the moldings, right? Should have used a soft sealant. So the window can move freely in relation to the moldings.

OK

Normally, you don't nail directly into the window frame, but into the panel right next to it.
So that the trim is pressed against the window frame.

If needed, as shomakie suggests, you can seal any gaps with exterior sealant.

I thought the normal thing was to nail both the panel and the window frame when attaching trim, that's how I've done it and I see no problems with it.

The trim overlaps the window frame but only by a couple of centimeters, so it can be difficult to nail there without cracking the trim or frame. And if you have "modern" windows in composite or with aluminum, it is not possible to nail there...

hi

The overlap is 2cm, elite window with wood on the outside.

I think I'll use a self-tapping screw if it gaps.
