Is there today screws or nails made of iron available to buy? Asked at Clas O who only sell galvanized.

Ernst K suggested that citrus plants do well with an iron nail in the soil :)

A piece of wire should work just as well?

Find an old horseshoe!
Try at the nearest stable.

Does he mean iron or steel? I don't believe much in that hocus-pocus man.

I wonder if any of my old screws are made of iron...
Fe is listed in small amounts on the fertilizer ingredients. Maybe citrus wants more Fe than other plants?

But steel is mostly iron, so for this application, I guess it doesn't matter.

Well, steel is an alloy of iron and about 0.5 - 2% carbon, but I assume the OP is looking for untreated nails or screws. As several have mentioned, plain wire nails or steel wire should suffice.

Fe is listed in the ingredients of the plant nutrient in a low amount. Maybe citrus needs more Fe than other plants?
Most screws and nails are made of iron/steel. The problem is they shouldn't be surface treated.

Citrus wants iron-rich soil. How much iron does the plant nutrient contain?

You need water-soluble iron salts. You won't get that from an iron nail. Rust is not water-soluble. A nail or screw will not help unless you want to believe in it.
