I think I remember asking this once before but couldn't find the thread.

I have now finished with the new giant beams on one of my farm buildings and was planning to put up the new 21mm panel today.

It is on the sunny side so I know there is a lot of stress on the wood, which is visible on all the buildings.

The question is whether I should nail or use screws. And if so, what kind of screws?

Google and Gabber's panel screw advertisement seems tempting. Holds 20 times better than nails, longer than pressure-treated, with reverse threads that press in the panel, etc. Strange that they chose a round head though.

Nail gun!

looking at different nail guns a bit. considering the Nail Gun A900FN, but it seems tricky to find good nails for the 34-degree. jula's nails only have half heads as I interpret the picture.

I used this screw for my panel, works great, doesn't crack the wood. I have installed horizontal fjällpanel painted black, considering the summer heat I didn't dare to nail. A box of 5.0 x 50 mm screws labeled "Träskruv Försänkt Impreg+" with one screw displayed on top, used for wood panelling projects.

Screwed my panel with regular decking screws.

started with a single decking screw, then I switched to just hammer and nails. managed to get half the wall done today at least.
- imagine if I had taken the hammer right away instead of pondering nail gun and screws for a year. :)
