Hi, I'm working on nailing up the ceiling, panel from norrlansträ.
I'm using a nail gun makita AF506.
I've set the penetration to max and correct air pressure, but still, the nails don't go all the way in, nailing at about 45 degrees in the spring.
Does anyone have any tips, or maybe experienced something similar?

  • Close-up of partially driven nails in a white ceiling panel during installation with a nail gun.
  • Close-up of white ceiling panel with partially inserted nails showing difficulty in driving them fully in.

Hmm, never experienced that problem. Is it an unusually weak pistol?

No, it should handle this, possibly I need to get deeper into the spring.

How do you hold the nail gun, what happens if you rotate it 90 degrees so that the tip properly bottoms out against the panel?

If you take a scrap piece and nail straight against it, holding the nail gun 90 degrees to the material, how does it turn out then?

Perpendicular it penetrates without issue, but I want hidden nailing so it has to be at 45 degrees.

Then it's the case that the contact surface is not flush against the material, can you increase the pressure by a few bars?

Have you placed the brad in the correct track? There are usually "tracks" in the magazine for different lengths of brads and if you place them too high up, maybe this could happen?

No, that's not the problem.

You misunderstood me, nail in the same place but turn the brad nailer 90 degrees, it will also be hidden so that the brad head aligns with the panel length.
