Hi, I have installed 6mm drywall on the wall which I have wallpapered. Now I'm going to hang up paintings and curtains, and what I'm wondering is if I need an anchor in the hole since it's renovation drywall? Can I just hammer in a nail to hang a heavy painting, or do I need a special hook?

What do you have underneath?

What do you have behind the renovation drywall?

Under the plasterboards are old wallpaper possibly chipboard and then timber logs. Old house from the early 1900s. Anyway, before I put on the plasterboards, the painting was hung on a nail and there was a shelf screwed onto the wall.

If you have chipboard behind, you don't need a plug; a screw that goes through the chipboard is sufficient.

Same with nails? Suspect there are shavings behind...

yes

Of course, it's just six mm, so if it worked to drill and nail before, it should work now too because you nail deeper than 6mm :) haha, I didn't think that far at first...
