Nail and Drill in Renovation Gypsum
Hi, I have installed 6mm drywall on the wall which I have wallpapered. Now I'm going to hang up paintings and curtains, and what I'm wondering is if I need an anchor in the hole since it's renovation drywall? Can I just hammer in a nail to hang a heavy painting, or do I need a special hook?

What do you have behind the renovation drywall?
Under the plasterboards are old wallpaper possibly chipboard and then timber logs. Old house from the early 1900s. Anyway, before I put on the plasterboards, the painting was hung on a nail and there was a shelf screwed onto the wall.

If you have chipboard behind, you don't need a plug; a screw that goes through the chipboard is sufficient.
