I will be installing gutters on a veranda soon. The long side is 5 m and, for symmetry, has downspouts in both corners, so the gutter should slope from the center towards both directions. Do I need to put a joint in the middle, or can I just press the gutter into place and let it bend a little?

For 5 meters you don't need double pipes, but if that's the appearance, then so be it.
Cut out a V from underneath so the gutter can bend but still hold together and add a joint.
