I want to move out the knee wall for a bit of extra floor space. The current wall is built with a longitudinal beam resting on the floor joists. On this, there is a post (about 100X100) at each rafter. It seems like this is significant and not something I think should be completely removed. But it should be okay to build a similar new one a bit further out and then remove the old one, right?

The span for the rafters is about 7.5 m, and it's a log house from the early 1900s or earlier, don't know the exact year. I'll attach some pictures. Close-up of wooden beams and wall studs in a loft space of an old timber house, showing grain patterns and connections with the roof structure. Dark attic space with wooden beams and boards, showing part of the roof structure in a timber house. Hanging ropes are visible on the boards. Wooden attic wall and floor with visible beams and a wooden strip lying on the floor, part of a renovation project in an early 1900s house.

I assume this is not a bedroom? In my old house, I built sleeping alcoves in two of the kattvindarna and each into a closet. That way, I avoided intruding on the walls - and built the bed base where the lower wall part remained untouched. It turned out very nice (and increased the property's sale price). But everything depends on what you want to use the space for.

Yes, it's a bedroom but the highest point in the attic is about 140 cm. It would be nice to see pictures of what you mean.
