I need to move the ventilation duct for the kitchen fan 180mm to the side. I will install a new ceiling, so I can make a new hole. I won’t have any overhead cabinets.

I am planning to cut the pipe quite high up in the attic so the joint is closer to the ventilation cap than to the fan. There, I plan to splice with two 45-degree angles and a piece of pipe in between to move 180mm sideways. I will mount with pop rivets and then tape with ventilation tape. Then I will continue with a new pipe down to the kitchen and then add fire insulation to the whole pipe.

Have I missed considering anything? Do I need to fix the pipe in the attic when I splice it? I don't think it’s attached in any way today, but I haven’t checked very carefully.

The smaller the angles the better.
The part that is pressed into the pipe/socket usually has a double rubber seal, so no ventilation tape is needed.

We secured the joints with three screws, TST-4.2x13.
