Planning to build a railing with a post and wondering how to best secure a post to the floor? I have a wooden floor and a beam to attach to.

I've seen mounting plates with threaded rods, how do you attach that to the post?

A metal anchor plate with a threaded rod and nut, used for securing a post to a floor or beam.

If you can lift the floor chipboard, you can screw the posts into the joist "from the side." Then put the floor chipboard back and cut out for the posts.

Not that I recommend it, but the bracket you're looking for probably looks more like this:

if it is a railing that should be able to hold onto, or in some way provide safety, I would try to secure it laterally and not just "straight down."

That post bracket from Biltema probably won't look very nice on an indoor railing.

I've seen another type of screw called a "käppskruv". It's similar to a stud bolt but has wood threads on both ends. Does anyone know if it holds a railing well enough?

Double-ended wood threaded screw, known as dowel screw, with center section, used for joining wood or securing railings.

Yeah, I thought about those too. I've seen them referred to as double-ended wood screws as well, not sure if that's correct. The question is how much load can they handle? They can probably handle a tensile load of 100kg+ depending on the dimension, but sideways? Do you have a sketch of it? Might be easier to advise then. Dimensions and such.

I've seen table legs fastened with such screws. If you have a tight fit and somewhat hard wood, then maybe it'll work.

Attaching a variant from Lundbergs. They deliver stair railings so it should hold... but it feels like there's a lot of leverage in a railing.
