Hello everyone!

My partner and I are trying to mount a mirror that weighs around 10 kg on a simple drywall.
After some googling, there seems to be plenty of information on how to use plugs like the molly type, which seems to do the job just fine. It seems that one molly in size M5 is enough.

However, the topic of studs keeps coming up as the best option, but there's no real information on what type of screw to use then? For example, what length should a wood screw be to provide a good hold in a stud? Do you have any good rule of thumb ( ;) ) here?

Thanks in advance!

If you assume it is a wooden stud, at least 45x45mm plus 12.5mm gypsum, I would use a screw that is 70mm. Depending a bit on what you find in your pockets... but not the weakest variants.
