Time to re-clad the stairs and I was thinking of gluing oak parquet (with plywood backing) directly onto the steps where there are cork tiles with plastic film a la 70s. It will take a fair amount of adhesive for the parquet to stay put, so my question is which adhesive should I choose to get a good quality adhesive that gives a lot per krona? Considering superfix+ or PL400 but would gladly accept better tips?!
Strongly consider working your way through the cork boards down to a firmer base. Unfortunately, I have tried something similar myself with the result that the steps loosened after a while, and then had to redo it and do it right.
I agree, but the cork tiles are stuck like hell and it will be a lot of work to remove them.M myrstack said:
Given the comments above, I conducted a highly unscientific test of some more budget-friendly adhesives. I glued break sticks directly onto the tiles after cleaning and degreasing with t-röd.
Initially, it seemed like PL400 provided a good tackiness. After 24 hours, the result was completely different where the adhesive I had the least confidence in, Superfix+, stuck like a rock and had to be sanded off, while PL400, for example, released from the surface without a problem.

Yes, you should definitely use the intended glue, PL400 is a bit overrated. Either some mspolymer glue like Casco't or some polyurethane glue like sikabond t2 (it has been recommended on BH before for stair renovation). Can you test and see if you can get the carpet to release by pulling on the rod?
Thanks, I will try Sika's too. There's no chance of getting the carpet off - it's stuck like hell 😁S schmakita said:Yes, you should definitely use the intended glue, PL400 is a bit overrated.
