I'm working on my upstairs and it's time to put up drywall on the ceiling. I have drywall sheets that are 250x90cm with a recessed edge along the long sides.

I was told I should cut off the recessed edge as it makes it easier with spackle and paint.

But if I remove the recessed edge, the sheets will be 250x80cm and won't align with the studs.

Is it much harder to spackle if there are recessed edges on the sheets in the ceiling?

No, absolutely do not remove it.

I was told that I should cut away the indentation because it will be easier with filler and paint then.

But if I remove the indentation, the boards will be 250x80cm and won't line up with the edges on the frame.

Is it much harder to fill if there are indentations on the boards on the ceiling?
No, that's completely wrong. The indentations are there so you can fill in a strip and it won't crack.
