Hope I'm in the right forum!

I want to attach a ceiling light fixture to a plaster ceiling. The lamp weighs about 1.7 kg and should be fastened with 3 screws. Is it molly bolts that are needed or can one get away with plasterboard anchors or something similar?

Thanks!

Screw into regel?

Should be enough with a regular plug, I mean, but it's always good to attach to a stud or batten.

Plasterboard anchors can handle lighter loads if you do not have a stud to hit.

Or a regular yellow/red plug

I would really avoid the classic yellow and red plugs in drywall ceilings. You barely have time to step down from the ladder before you have the ceiling light on the floor:crysmile:

Regular plugs don't work in plasterboard. Molly bolts or threaded plasterboard anchors are what you need if you don't find wood behind.

Don't regular plugs work in drywall? Oh yes, it works just fine. I don't know how much I've put up with yellow plugs, if it only weighs 1.7kg there's no problem.
