Today, there is a gap of about 40mm where there is missing trim against the wainscoting from the removed door frame.

Around the old frame, there are classic moldings, but where the wainscoting is, I'm wondering how to achieve a nice transition.

Those of you with wainscoting, could you post pictures where they meet your classic trim?

Absolutely, I can arrange that 👍

Maybe thinking of a foderkloss and some bröstlist standing perhaps?

  • Floral wallpaper and white wainscoting with a light switch on the wall.
  • Partial wall renovation showing exposed wood and electrical outlet, vacuum cleaner nearby on light wooden floor.
  • Wood and white paneling with a yellow tape measure showing a gap between them.
Install a new molding all the way, shim it out on the wall section above the breast molding?

I'm probably not quite following how you mean

I'm not good at explaining.

Remove the molding you have. Get a planed board as thick as the panel and 5 mm wider than the molding you will then put on, remove a bit from the bottom of the board so that it fits against the panel and ends up about 5 mm from the free edge of the door hole surround. Place it where the molding should be. Place a new molding 5 mm in on that board so that it extends over the panel and aligns with the board on the flat wall.

You usually let the lining go all the way down to the floor and then fit the panel and chair rail against the lining.
