Old water damage and mold growth on exposed wooden floorboards under removed toilet flooring. Visible gray pipes and disintegrating particleboard edges. Close-up of wooden beams with visible mold damage, part of a bathroom renovation after discovering old water leakage.
Replacing sewer pipes and while removing the floor in a bathroom, I discovered an old water damage with mold growth. I have measured the material and it seems dry. It's likely an old pipe leaked as the now replaced pipes went where the new ones are now. The wood fiber insulation and quite a large surrounding area were clearly affected. Some planks I could remove were a bit porous, but otherwise, it doesn't seem to be deeper damage. There are some supporting parts in the area.

The question now is - what do I need to do to remediate this? Should I contact a company? What kind of mold is it?

If it is completely dry, then it's basically fine. Mold spores are everywhere, there are many kinds, and it's only when it gets damp that they start growing. I would remove porous wood and perhaps where there is direct growth and replace it with fresh, new timber. Discolorations aren't really a problem if they are not visible when it's finished, right?
If you're going to cut into load-bearing parts, make sure to transfer the load and replace with timber of at least the same size and grain direction, and make sure to fasten it in such a way that it can handle the load.

1. Spray on Klorin.
2. Scrub off the mold.
