I have a house from -46 with hollow brick and a drained + insulated foundation. I want to increase the heat in the basement room and was thinking of insulating with steel studs, water-resistant drywall, and insulation. But you should not insulate behind the drywall?
The walls are otherwise dry.

Hi!
I didn't insulate behind my gypsum board. The walls became a bit like "bongo drums".

Theoretically, a steel stud with a moisture-resistant board shouldn't be able to mold, either with or without insulation. If you leave a small air gap between the concrete wall and the insulation, it should be even safer.

Theoretically, a steel stud with a wet-room board shouldn't be able to mold, either with or without insulation. Leaving a small air gap between the concrete wall and the insulation should make it even safer.
Commenting on an old post now. But I'm considering the same thing, to use metal studs and wet-room drywall as a precaution. Have you managed to avoid "problems"?

Hi, it's been a long time since I was in here reading. But it's working well! There is no insulation behind the drywall.
