Minimum thickness of concrete wall?
What is the minimum thickness a concrete wall can be to bear its own weight and not topple over from a gust of wind or if someone happens to bump into it?
Assuming a straight and flat surface as well as a height of approximately ~2.4 meters and not needing to support other floors, etc.

For a 2.4 high wall, I would say if it's just straight, you'll need a fairly thick wall to make it stable.
I would probably aim for a double course; if it's brick, a double brick thickness. This way, you can also "turn in" the brick on the short sides.
If it's a cast wall, maybe it can be thinner, the reinforcement will help keep it upright too: So about 10 cm might be enough then.
Found an English site: They recommend 9-25 cm thickness.

The conditions involve trusses, etc., which stabilize. Casting on-site. I thought it is most guaranteed to block sound.
Historically, s-shaped walls were built to increase load-bearing capacity and save materials.

For sound blocking, isn't a thin hard concrete wall not the best? Hard concrete can spread sound very well (as anyone who has lived in an apartment unfortunately knows).spikplanka said:
