Hello everyone,
What is the difference between the "regular" Microlit fabric and the (perhaps equally regular) glass fiber-based painter's felt?

Should one be preferred over the other? The painter's felt is considerably cheaper, but the question is whether it reinforces the plaster as well as Microlit.

If you are applying it to plaster, that is.

I bought microlit and paint felt from byggmax to compare. It was very difficult to see any difference between the two, possibly the felt from byggmax was a bit thicker. I placed them next to each other and then it was completely impossible to tell them apart, so I chose the felt from byggmax.

Oh, ok, that sounds good. Did you find it easier/harder to set up one or the other?

I chose one that the painting company had - which was thin and almost see-through
a little scratchy, the advantage was that the glue went through if you applied more from the outside with the roller..
I believe it was cheaper than B-max...!

An old thread, but I bought both a more expensive smooth fiberglass fabric and painting felt, the painting felt was much cheaper but the more expensive one was easier to put up and absorbed less paint so in the end the expensive one was cheaper.
