Metal on the inside of exterior door

A reflection.

The inside of the exterior door to a small "småstuga" on the property is covered with some form of metal sheeting. I believe the cottage is from the early 80s. The door is fairly modern and has a window. The metal sheeting appears to be nailed in place, with visible nails around the entire sheet. Does anyone have any idea why a metal sheet is nailed there, for what purpose?

My door between the laundry room and garage was covered with nailed-on sheet metal. I assume it was the 1960s way of fire-rating an interior door.

Is there anything that would require the door to be fire-rated?

No, I don't think there is any direct reason to fire-rate this door. It's like on the inside of an exterior door in a kind of small "guest cottage". With click flooring on the floor, nice interior ceiling, window sills, etc. Yes, like a furnished little guest cottage. The door feels quite "modern". The main property was built in the 80s and the little cottage should have been put up around the same period. That is, not a 60s build.

Why kick plate? Shouldn't it only be at the bottom then? In this case, the entire inside is covered with metal, think from top to bottom, with a window in the middle.

No, I don't think there's any direct reason to fire rate this door. It's like on the inside of an exterior door in a kind of small "guest cabin".

The door may have been used when it was installed, and those who built the guest cabin might have taken it from a place where the need for fire protection was greater.

I just find it a bit odd that a front door with a window and all has metal on the inside.
I thought that was more something you did with, for example, fire doors to boiler rooms, etc., meaning whole doors without windows.
Or did they also cover front doors, with windows, with metal on the inside back in the day?
