I have a basement that I plan to renovate. The house had a bit of poor construction when we bought it, so one of the things done then was to tear everything out of the basement, throw away all the wet insulation, drain and insulate from the outside instead.

Now the walls are bare. Only cinder blocks are visible.

I don't want plastered walls and wonder if I can do it another way? Steel studs that form a natural air gap and then a choice of building/particle/gypsum board? If I want to insulate the wall (in this case primarily soundproof it), how much—if any—air gap should I have?

The walls are, as mentioned, bare cinder blocks. Moisture has free passage to be transported out of the wall. Isodrän on the outside of the wall and everything is bone dry at present.

Forget it. There were already good threads on the topic. Sorry.
