Hi,
I've renovated many rooms at home where I've removed all the wallpaper, but now I feel I don't have the energy to do it in the next room. I was wondering if anyone has tried putting 3mm Masonite boards on the walls. It builds up half as much as renovation plasterboard and is half the price. Are there any disadvantages to this?

Difficult to get it smooth and the joints in the masonite are likely to show through the wallpaper. Have you looked into whether renovation wallpaper (like recover) might work?
Thin masonite needs to be pre-moistened before installation and also nailed closely. That is, it must be possible to nail into the entire substrate/wall. Even so, there is a high likelihood that the wallpaper will crack at the panel joints over time unless you putty (and reinforce) all the seams.
