Hello!
Need help with a question. We are renovating the basement, and in connection with that, we have made an opening for a door in a load-bearing wall. We have had carpenters do it, and they never mentioned anything about having to reinforce with some beam or similar. But I spoke with an acquaintance who said that it's usually done? Does anyone know if this is standard?

It depends on the construction of the wall. What type of wall is it? Do you have pictures?

Some walls may allow for small holes without the need for reinforcement.

It is a blåbetong wall, about 30 cm. Unfortunately, I have no pictures...

Are you sure it's a load-bearing one? Upload a picture of the house blueprints.
