Hi,
The previous owner chose to install old window trims when they put in new windows. Now that the paint has started to peel, we are considering replacing them (the trims).
Terrace door, you can see that the trim doesn't quite reach and at the bottom, the paint has started to flake.
A pair of the newer windows, it looks like a thinner trim strip has been installed beforehand:

Older windows that also seem to need new paint and putty?
What would you say needs to be done as it looks right now? Urgent? Less urgent?

Less urgent but good to do. Sand, oil/prime, paint. The putty looks unattractive but is in ok condition, just a little paint unless it's coming loose. The reveal is directly against the flashing in some places and is absorbing water, there should be a small gap.

My thought is probably to replace the trim, i.e., buy new ones, cut to size, prime, and paint before installation. The problem, however, is knowing the size of the trim. Can you take down the existing ones without putting up new ones immediately? Or will you have big problems if it starts to rain?
Tear off and install sheet metal trims instead.
Lindab's Zinkgrå might match quite well.

A good idea, we have this on 2 windows that were installed in the basement. Just need to check what it might cost, that will be the determining factor. It's a tinsmith who performs this job, right?V verktygsgurun said:
I suspect that maintenance will be much less with sheet metal casings.
