Bauhaus has a large selection of "floor plate" but unfortunately only in "hobby sizes". Will probably have to check with the sheet metal dealer.
No, not expanded metal! Expanded sheet metal is used, for example, as loading ramps on car trailers, floors in construction elevators, bus shelters, etc.
