Hello

I'm in the process of renovating an old house that consists of a central log structure and two wings made of loose timber. I'm planning to tackle the log structure now, the upper part seems to be in relatively good condition but a number of rounds are in bad shape and need to be removed.

I'm thinking of lifting one wall at a time and removing everything bad and replacing it with vertical studs.
In other words, remove bad timber and replace with studs as short as possible.

Has anyone done something similar?

Hi. I haven't done it myself, but I've seen others do it. And it's fine to do it the way you were thinking. Luckily, you didn't post your thread under the building maintenance category. Then you would've caught hell for it. Good luck.
