Hello, I was wondering if anyone here has tips or experience on how to build a loft bed supported by two walls. I'm thinking about how to make sure the planks stay intact and not split, do you think it's enough to anchor it to the wall, then screw together a frame with metal brackets?
In the picture, you can see an example of what I want to achieve (I've seen it done without the beam underneath as well).

A few years ago, I built it like this - plugged a 45x95 beam into each wall - plus a post in the free corner - placed a regular IKEA bed on top - and built a ladder - worked great.
You probably need something in the free corner unless you're building a very stable construction and fastening into the wall studs (or if you have a load-bearing concrete wall on the long side of the bed) - maybe metal in that case?
There's quite a lot of force if you place 60-100 kg (or even two people up there!?) out in the corner. It's more than 2 meters diagonally from the other corner, which has to handle that load and 90-120 cm (depending on the width) out from the long side wall...

Feels rather unsteady without a post down or a post/wire to the ceiling in the open corner. Surely not impossible, but it must be a really stiff construction to avoid flexing unpleasantly.

If you want it without support in the open corner, you will probably have to build with steel and anchor it firmly to the wall (in heavy concrete or in the studs).
As mentioned, with a post, 45x95 is enough...

Thanks, any more suggestions or experiences?
I have just built two beds. I'm very pleased. However, one of the walls was made of some form of poor porous concrete, or whatever it is. But it seems to hold well. I also mounted spotlights underneath with fjäris. The kids were thrilled about the beds. They are completely made of metal. I have pictures!! But I guess I can't upload them here.
