I'm considering which walls are load-bearing in my house built in 1933. Specifically concerning the walls marked in red in the picture below. I guess that the one on the upper floor is not load-bearing, but I'm more uncertain about the one in the basement. I'm planning to consult a structural engineer, but would like some preliminary input before proceeding.
Your theory is probably correct, depending on what the trusses look like, and which direction the floor joists run between the basement and the ground floor.
