Hello!
I'm not very good with constructions, so I'm asking the experts here for help with our planning.
We have just bought a semi-detached house and wish to change the floor plan of the ground floor.
We would like to completely remove the bedroom on the entry-level to enlarge the kitchen. We would also like to remove the small wall section to the left of the freezer to create a more open feel. (see attached PDF with original plan - our house type: Cgvb)
Is this possible? I interpret the drawing as only the walls on either side of the bathrooms are load-bearing - am I interpreting this correctly?
Today, part of the bedroom has been removed to slightly enlarge the kitchen and create storage space in a new hallway. In connection with this, a slanted entrance to the kitchen has been made and here's where my concern comes in. If you see the attached image, it certainly looks like there are beams over the opening in the same shape as the old floor plan.
There is a concrete slab between the basement and the entry-level.
What do you think, can we tear it down and be happy?
Peter
