Hello,
I have an old farmhouse from around the 1850s that I plan to convert into something fun, like a laundry room/gym. The project will be BUDGET as much as possible!

The concrete slab seems to be cast with a slope since there is a drainage hole through the wall in the far corner, which looks like it's from when the house was built.
My initial thought was to level the floor with a screed for rising moisture, but when I used the laser and saw that it was up to 110 mm, I realized it would be incredibly expensive.

I'm not sure if I have the desire, energy, or time to break up and recast!

Does anyone have a sensible solution for this? The surface will be tiled!!

  • Old barn interior with rough concrete floor, exposed rafters, ladders, and tools. Marks and numbers on the floor indicating uneven levels.
You can fill up with regular concrete, similar to when casting a slab.

No risk that it will settle as a loose layer and become a problem over time? I suppose a concrete layer should be at least 50mm thick? But of course, you can just fill in the worst part if that's the case!
