What would you choose for building basement walls, leca or Dorotherm? I understand that Dorotherm is more expensive but easier to build with, are there other advantages/disadvantages? How about the U-values?

New construction? Finished inhabited basement, or just for storage? Dorotherm seems to be something completely different, a foam core with a reinforced slab on the outside. Not something I would want to build basement walls with and then place a house on top of. Leca with foam on the outside should be a better solution. Or is it another product from dorotherm you mean?

Isn't it the other way around? Outside and inside of EPS and then filled with concrete?

This is what Svensk Byggtjänst writes:
Foam plastic wall elements, which are filled with concrete at the construction site, intended for basement walls in small houses, garages, retaining walls, crawl space foundations.

Furnished inhabited basement :) It's like big Lego blocks that are assembled and then filled with concrete. I think the block itself is the insulation, right? U-value 0.17w/m2 K

Spontaneously, I think it sounds much easier than leca, but I would love to hear what others think, if anyone has experience with this?

Ok, now I'm with you. Dorotherm feels simpler, leca feels much cheaper.

I have built about 60 sqm of basement with leca. Today, I would probably rather have used dorotherm even if it was a bit more expensive. I have a colleague who built the whole house with dorotherm and he is very satisfied.

JanneL why would you have chosen dorotherm today instead? Because of the simplicity or do you think you get a better insulated basement?

If I understand correctly, you get a better insulated wall than with lecan. Furthermore, as you point out, it's considerably easier to stack these blocks. You also get a homogeneous concrete wall of 15 cm, which should withstand most things. Imagine how fun it will be when you can bring along your wife and kids, and everyone helps build. Basement finished in 1 day! Well, that might be an exaggeration, but it's quick.

Yes, it's probably worth the extra cost after all :)
