Hi,

We are renovating the staircase and are currently in the process of removing the carpet, which has proven to be quite difficult.

The plan is to lay thin parquet on the steps.

Should we remove the carpet or can we leave it in place?

Hello! You can indeed add it, but there will be a cavity under the parquet when you remove the metal stair nose strip that you need to shim/fill. But go to a rental company and rent a handheld carpet stripper, and you'll have those last steps done in under an hour. Unless you're already finished ;)
