We have a turn-of-the-century villa with a veranda where we have started tearing down the masonite walls. In connection with this, we naturally had a surprise in discovering that the 80x80 studs in the veranda's frame are rot-damaged. See pictures below

The problem is that when it rains, water "gets sucked in" under the windows and drips via the studs down onto the sill. As a temporary solution, I have removed the rot damage and replaced it with new fresh wood:

In the pictures below, you can see how the old windows connect to the flashing (or rather do not connect to the flashing):

My question to you is if anyone has advice on how this can be solved more permanently? I've considered sealing properly from the outside, but it feels like an ad hoc solution since the seals are likely to crack when the house moves.
