Ceiling showing small cracks where a wall once was.

Planning to put a simple white trim/flat piece of wood and secure it by driving some screws into the roof truss/beam directly above.

Will run along the red line.

What kind of timber is suitable for my purpose?

Preferably 100mm wide and will be ~5m long. Needs to be sturdy enough so the screw doesn't go straight through when it grips the beam above the ceiling.

Planed pine should work.
