I have a basement that is being fixed. In the basement, there is the electrical panel with incoming electricity (thick cable). I want to cover this cable with some type of channel because it's easy to bump into it. Since the cable's outer casing seems to consist of some form of "tar-soaked strings" that are starting to become brittle, I preferably don’t want to accidentally damage it.

I have considered some type of cable channel and preferably in metal since it's more durable/nicer.

But I can't find ready-made ones to buy? I only find smaller versions meant for indoor wiring concealment. However, I have seen pictures online where heat pump owners have managed to conceal cables/tubes with similar channels (see picture below):

Metal cable channel covering electrical wires on a building's exterior wall, connected to a box with a white cable visible below.

This is the cable that needs to be covered at my place:

A basement corner featuring an electrical box with a thick cable descending from it. The wall shows white paint marks near the cable connection.

Does anyone know where to find such or do you have any other good suggestions for a solution? I know you can get a sheet metal worker to bend one, but it would be easier if you could find ready-made ones somewhere.

Since I also want to cover the part that connects to the main fuses (the part that someone has smeared white paint on), the dimensions need to be about 10 cm wide and 8 deep, but it doesn't matter if it's a centimeter larger in any direction.

I would probably ask the energy board to replace that cable first.....

They're not doing it. I have a cable from 1936. They're digging up the street outside, coincidentally all the way to my house. The cable looks terrible and has been lying on a damp basement floor since it was installed. Since it was dug up and the cable was hanging in the hole out to the street, and my meter board is a meter inside the wall where the pit with the cable was hanging, I thought Öresundskraft could replace the old cable that's there since it's all open and all the heavy work is done.

They came and looked at the cable and said it will last a few more years...

Yes, the thought has crossed my mind, and I've also been in contact with them regarding this. But it involves quite a bit of digging and rerouting, which includes both them and electricians. I did a quick estimation and realized that the cost cannot be justified. All I want is to hide the ugly cable.

The cable itself is not damaged, except the very outer layer is starting to become a bit brittle. It will probably last much longer if it can remain undisturbed under a metal cover. :)

Thanks for the link!

However, I think the cable protection needs to be a bit larger than the dimensions available at elbutik.

I don't know if it's clear in the picture, but my cable makes a little turn just before it goes into the plate. That is, it is embedded slightly at an angle. If you want to cover everything, you need to let the protection be a few centimeters wider than the cable itself.

Make a small "box" with studs and plaster?
