More questions... hello by the way
Where does one "not" need to use so-called "K24" lumber in a house frame. From what I understand, it is only in the Roof trusses and the Floor joists between the 1st and 2nd floors??? is that correct?? or should the floor joists on the 1st floor also have it?? Grateful for answers.....

K24 is used as you mentioned in floors, both bottom and intermediate floors. You can also use a lower grading class, such as K12, but then the possible span becomes smaller. In trusses, K24 is mainly used, but also K12 and o/s. It can also be the case that a designer wants to use K-timber in other parts, such as in a header over a larger door opening. The alternatives to this are, for example, glulam, kerto, or steel.
Thanks for the answers regarding K-timber. Now, a different question, can 45x195 be used as the bottom floor joist where the span will be 8m, with support from the foundation wall after 4m...or should the same dimension as the intermediate floor joists, 45x220, be used :-/
See the following thread for more discussion about 8m span with a central support. http://www.byggahus.se/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=byggmatr;action=display;num=1073552269
In short: K24 45x195 is not recommended, even K24 45x220 is on the flimsiest side according to some tables, but works under certain conditions.
