Experimented and showed a picture here but no one responded. However, my theory that spikband should have worked was confirmed... The only thing is that now I don't dare to take a chance since the holes are a bit too large.

5-6 mm is probably more of a crack and not a round hole. A really small mouse can probably squeeze through a gap larger than 6 mm, like between two boards. But the chance of it getting through a round hole of 7 mm in unyielding metal is probably not very likely.
I think it looks smooth with the perforated band, in Yrrol's clothes I would have popped one of those in. 
tjb's mouse band isn't friendly for the wallet either, a whole roll of perforated band from Jula costs about the same as a single 1.2-meter mouse band, roughly. I have these mouse bands around the friggan, had repressed the cost... *hehe*

Yeah, I'll probably go with perforated tape, but the one with fewer holes since the largest holes were a few millimeters smaller on those.
However, if I do that, I'll get paranoid that it restricts airflow, but...

The holes on these bands are 6.66mm
Had Anticimex here and he said those bands should work anyway. But he became a bit doubtful when I questioned the 6mm principle, but agreed that it was applicable to gaps.

Now, I've tested this on a short gable. Stapled up aluminum mesh with stainless staples. Then I screwed up the band with short outdoor mounting screws.
After that, I pressed up the mesh, but then I noticed in some places the windproof paper had slipped away from the panel and there was a gap between the panel and the paper.
-don't really know how to handle it...
Pressed up the mesh and it settled fairly well and such... However, I'm not sure if I should try to staple the mesh to the paper, or if I should add another perforated tape strip closer to the foundation, whatever that would do, or multiple perforated tapes so the entire gap between the panel and the foundation is covered...
what do I do next?
