As I understand it, the platonmatta should overlap at least 1.5 meters when it comes to jointing at corners. However, in my newly purchased villa, the previous owners have only overlapped 15 decimeters. Will this have any decisive significance?

There's not much difference between 1.5 meters and 15 decimeters, so it shouldn't really make any decisive difference... ;-)
If you mean 15 centimeters, I guess it depends on what is outside and how smoothly the outer one lays against the inner one.
