We are going to install a wooden facade on a stuccoed house. The stucco will remain under the new wooden panel. The wall will be, from outside to inside: panel, air gap, wind protection, stucco, revetering mat, plank frame, battens, boards, drywall.
What I am wondering is if wind protection is necessary outside the stucco? The stucco itself is a breathable wind barrier.
The house was built in 1915, stuccoed in the 1960s.

I would say that a reasonably intact plaster is windproof enough - it probably won't blow through it?S SågaHamraSpika said:

You can knock down the old plaster in half a day to a day per wall with two people. Once the old plaster is gone, the continuation of the work goes faster and the end result is much better. You eliminate the risk of condensation moisture behind the plaster, and everything becomes straighter and more even. So, you get much better quality for only a slightly higher price when tearing down the old plaster. Why then insist on keeping it?
As weather protection on old houses, I prefer some wood fiber-based sheathing board. For example, Hunton. Considering you have a plank house, which often has poor insulation, I suggest a 30mm thick sheathing board. Hunton or Runkoleijona. It costs a little more but provides some insulation as a bonus.
As a certified cheapskate, I prefer solutions that are durable and economically sustainable in the long run.
