Hello, I'm in the process of renovating a room where there's a hea beam between two leca walls.
This room was once used as a garage, but the previous owners converted it into a regular room instead.
Now to my question
There is a hea beam between two leca walls with a distance of 3.19M.
What I find strange is that it just sits there.
It doesn't support the floor above.
It's hard to explain, but I don't understand its function.

  • A ceiling view showing a metal beam between two wooden frames within a room under renovation, originally a garage. The beam's purpose is questioned.
  • Wooden ceiling beams in a room undergoing renovation, with insulation materials on the floor and wires hanging from the ceiling.
Could it be a lifting beam for removing engines from cars perhaps?

I will try to free up more so you can get more pictures.

Don't you have any construction drawings?

Yes, it looks like it could be a converted garage.

Unfortunately, the only thing I have is this
However, the wall that is marked with ink is a full wall, and instead, there is a door opening on the left wall in the garage up in the corner

  • Blueprint showing garage layout with door opening in the left corner, wall measurements, and a note on steel beam placement.

In the first post, it states that it indeed used to be a garage.

how can I find out if it serves any function or if I can remove it? I'm thinking it might have been installed before because a wall was removed, but now the wall is there. Can I bring someone here who can determine that?

What do you have above? I see drainage pipes in the ceiling. Could it be some reinforcement for a bathroom?

It might be a reinforcement as I mentioned above, but why wouldn't it be included in the house delivery?

Then maybe it's for a motor lift, perhaps it's drawn in so that preparation for installation is made.
🤔

there is a bathroom upstairs but it has been there the whole time
