Is it the door or the molding that needs to be sanded?
Hi! We are new homeowners and need help with a bathroom door that is catching on the floor trim. We first tried adjusting the hinges but even though we've lifted the door as much as we can, it still catches. Our guess is that moisture has managed to get in and caused either the door or the trim to swell and needs sanding, but how do we know which one to address and should the sanded area be treated in some way to prevent new problems? (As you might notice, we are completely inexperienced with things like this, but we would love to learn). Uploading pictures of the trim and how it looks at the bottom and top when the door is closed.
The oak threshold seems to have been damaged by the door hitting it.Lojsie85 said:

The easiest way is to saw off the bottom of the door with a plunge saw with a guide rail if you want it to look nice.
Otherwise, you can use a regular circular saw if you're not too concerned about chipping and it not looking nice on both sides.
The oak threshold can be sanded and varnished to make it look good.
