Hello, I have an extension made in 1985 (as we believe/know). The house was built in 1936.
Long story short.
I had a stone/concrete staircase to my entrance.
Underneath this staircase was an entrance to my garage.
The hole was about 2x1m.
Now the staircase is demolished, and the basement has been extended (a room 3x5m).
What remains now is the entrance to the garage.
This entrance is quite special though.
It is 67cm wide and 1.80m high.
I see an opportunity to cut this open by removing/sawing 2 lecablocks.
The question is whether this is something load-bearing or what is above.
I think it looks like there is a rebar mat above the stone I want to remove.
Do you have any ideas?
Can it be reinforced with something once the stone is removed, or is there perhaps a risk of collapse if I remove it?
It can be seen cracking a bit around the opening when the staircase was removed.
