Hello,

We are looking at an apartment where we would like to demolish a load-bearing wall that isn't straight. Does anyone have experience with replacing such a wall with a straight I-beam, for example?

The association has previously approved larger openings in load-bearing walls, but there is no documentation if entire demolitions have been done. The red line represents the beam we would like to replace the crooked wall with. Is this completely unthinkable or should it be a fully approved solution?

Thanks for the help!

Welcome to the forum!

It probably depends on how the joist layer, for example, is made. Thus, construction drawings for the house are needed. But very long beams also become very tall, which can seem a little strange, so 2-3 shorter beams with columns as supports in between can give a better impression.
