My wife bought heavy wood screws coated with Gunnebos Impreg Plus. According to the packaging, they are supposed to resist corrosion better than other coatings.

But I'm a bit skeptical. Has anyone compared them with regular hot-dip galvanized bolts, which also look significantly sturdier in the same dimension..?

  • Two large wood screws with hexagonal heads on a patterned surface; comparison of corrosion-resistant coating and size discussed.
The finish on the left looks better anyway.
Gunnebo must have something that supports their claim.

Wonderful Perstorp tabletop they are on, straight from the 70s.

Design Sigvard Bernadotte. Galvanized French screws last forever.

What is the strength class of the screws? Is there anything stamped on the screw head?
A smoother surface is more corrosion-resistant. This applies at least to stainless material.
