Hi forum,

In an apartment, a non-load-bearing wall is to be demolished. The wall goes halfway up to the ceiling and is made of aerated concrete. A couple of metal pipes go through the wall, starting at the ceiling and continuing through the wall.

I wonder if the forum can guide me on what these pipes are? The pipes are highlighted in green in the images below.

All responses are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Close-up of metal pipes inside a construction site, partially covered in concrete residue, with two pipes marked with green lines for identification. Concrete wall with exposed metal pipes marked in green, extending from ceiling through the wall. Pipe with green markers in a concrete wall, part of a renovation project, running from ceiling through the wall with other pipes visible.

Looks like armored conduit for electricity. So likely there are electrical wires in the conduits.

Thank you very much! Do you have any experience/idea of what the process might look like for rerouting such conduits in an apartment? Is it an easy job for an electrician or a larger task?

It shouldn't be too big of a job to reroute it. But it likely leads to an outlet somewhere, which is the most common if it goes from the ceiling downwards. You should have some idea of what's in the wall before you start tearing it down, right?
Where have you demolished the wall? There seem to be installations for water, heating, and drainage where you've demolished. It doesn't look like something you should be tearing down at all.

Water, heating, and drainage run above the wall that's intended to be taken down. The wall to be taken down only goes from the floor up to "my" ceiling/surface in the apartment. Above my surface/ceiling, there's an additional 2 meters of space where these water pipes go. It's only armored cables for electricity that have any real connection to the wall to be taken down. The rest is free-standing, so to speak.

The reason for the question about armored cables is that there's only a single power outlet in the wall being taken down, while a total of 3-4 armored cables run through this wall. I therefore wondered if the armored cables might go to the apartment below mine, but this is probably unlikely? Sorry for my endless questions... :)

No, it is probably not unlikely that the armored cables could go to another apartment. It seems like you are tearing down a wall to the shaft with all the technical installations. So you should absolutely ensure what you are tearing down and what it entails. Have you checked with the housing association for drawings of the building and what you are tearing down?

Could be things like those that go between apartments, central antenna or phone for example.
