Intermediate floor - lowest possible profile
Hello,
we are in the process of designing an extension.
The idea is to try to create a loft for various exercise equipment over part of the area. To achieve this, the floor between levels must have as low a profile as possible.
Has anyone tried using low metal beams instead of wooden joists?
Is there a handy person who could easily estimate what dimensions of beams would be needed (considering if the best option is to use U-beams and then lay a wooden joist in them to attach the subfloor)?

Technically, it's probably an H-beam, i.e., a beam that looks like a lying H, which gives the lowest profile.
However, as noted above, the crucial parameter is the span.

If you use wood, you can manage with 45x120 cc45 possibly kortlat in the middle.
I don't know about steel, but would guess you can save 4-5 cm as well, the downside is that there is a high risk of creaking due to steel's thermal expansion at
